Before we can dig into the basics of Algebra and PreAlgebra, we need to remember some of the basics of numbers. Today we spent class discussing Primes, Divisibility and Clue Words for word problems. This is so important to the foundation of all we will do this year. Plus it is a nice easy "first day" in math. :)
All my math classes will have a quiz over divisibility next week. So they should be able to apply the rules they learned today then. In the meantime we will do more practice in PreAlgebra while Algebra dives right into Chapter 1!

Many may believe that the life of a teacher leads to lots of free time, especially in the summer. :) Those in the profession know different. I've been busy preparing for the school year, though I am taking time to do some fun reading in the hours I'm not working on my room or updating curriculum. One of the things I'm working on is better communication with our families here at CLA. I will be updating this blog each week with what we have been studying and what we will be studying the following week, along with any projects you can look forward to hearing about from your students. If you want to make sure you don't miss any of my posts, including pictures of any experiments or fun things going on in class make sure you subscribe so you can get an email update! I hope you all enjoy your summer and get to read some great books as well!
